Another great poem below...
Life ended so short
Posted by L ® , Wed, Apr 18, 2001, 23:09:27

As she ran down the stairs,
and awaited for her ride,
Mommy and Daddy continually reminded her,
Not to drink and drive.

She went and grabbed her jacket,
Gave little Benjamin a kiss,
Not knowing what would happen,
Not knowing how it would end like this.

As the kids all drove off,
Awaiting this party,
They stopped by Melissa’s
and went to pick up Marty.

So it’s around 9 now,
And the party has just begun,
All the kids arriving,
and ready for some fun.

Her friends all had a few beers,
and she knew wrong from right,
they offered her a Heineken,
instead she had a Sprite.

Now it’s about 10:30,
The party’s getting a little Rough,
Everybody’s completely wasted,
And for her arrival home got tough.

She knew it wasn’t safe,
for these kids to drink and drive,
So instead of getting home on time,
She’d rather save some lives.

Midnight has stricken,
She decides to call home,
To have someone sober pick them up,
Not at this party, left alone.

No answer at her house,
Her parents are asleep,
She promised them she’d be home safely,
And that promise she will keep.

Sara, Melissa, and Marty,
All ready to leave this place,
They showed no maturity by getting drunk,
To her, they were a disgrace.

They drove away real happy,
and everybody was fine,
Then BOOM, She looked over the seat,
and all she could see was a shine.

She turned around and looked over,
And seen Sara and Marty on the floor,
Then looked all around her,
And found blood galore.

Now she’s hesitating,
She’s starting to lose air,
Her body is becoming fragile and weak,
Repeating to herself, LIFE IS NOT FAIR.

She knows what is to come of her,
She knows she cannot go on,
She slightly hears a doctor reply,
"Guys, this kid is gone".

She sees ambulances everywhere,
She starts to lose her mind,
"Doctor, there car went off the road,
And one child, we cannot find".

Tears are shedding away,
And she‘s about to pass,
Asking the nurse, over and over,
"Why did my life end so fast?"

16 years old,
Her life would have just begun,
Thinking about her friends and family,
Her mind began to spun.

She’s rushing to the hospital,
And almost there, she would stop to breathe,
She keeps asking herself, in her head,
"Why do I have to leave?"

Her Mom and Dad so sad and confused,
Their Youngest girl is going to die,
They begin to blame themselves,
and those sad tears, they began to cry.

Now she is on life support,
in a coma she will stay,
About 3 or 4 hours later,
Her family’s told she passed away.

They cannot believe what’s happened,
They cannot understand why,
Their baby Girl’s life ended so fast,
And Now, why did she have to die?

She was a Varsity Cheerleader,
Dating the star of the football team,
She was on the National Honor’s Society,
And wanted to accomplish many dreams.

Now all those dreams have faded away,
Her family cannot stay strong,
If only she had more time in life,
Too soon. Too late. She’s gone.

Your life is very important,
And for those kids, this message I’ll send,
Drinking and Driving is not the way,
It points to a DEAD END.
